

There is just a sense of calm and peace that washes over me when I view this branding concept I came up with for White Lotus Behavioral Health. I was very inspired by Chanell's brand questionnaire and the thought and passion behind her business. It was very clear to me from her Business name, and her branding questionnaire that a lotus flower be present in their logo. I decided to hand draw a lotus flower for the logo and branding and I thoughtfully placed this throughout the designs. When I was reading Chanell's questionnaire there was a sentence that really stood out to me and that resonated with me… "When your pursuits are pure of heart – your past, where you come from, and your hardships are all unmatched by the purity of your intentions”. This gave me a creative and intuitive idea to want to represent the past and the future into their logo too! After researching symbols for past and future the Triangle and < > brackets often represent the past and the future / before and after. I really wanted to portray in the logo that no matter where you are from (your past) that as long as your pursuits are pure of heart (the lotus flower) then your hardships are unmatched by the purity of your intentions (the future). This is where the brackets surrounding the hand drawn lotus flower draw so much meaning into the logo. I just love this idea with the powerful meaning behind it, which can represent a lot more than this too. I like to see it as < (past) the lotus flower (present) and > (future), representing that you are the lotus flower in the middle, you are the present and your business is what helps move these beautiful children from the difficulties they face to a more brighter future.
I’ve also carried through this meaning to the font for the logo design. The font I have chosen is a combination of sans serif and serif. I have creatively used the sans serif font for the capital letter of W and L in the business name White lotus. This is because the ‘L’ also carries through the before and after symbol used in the logo next to the lotus and I absolutely love this idea. The colours I have chosen are calming, soft and compliment well against the stronger more “empowering” colours. I believe these brand colours tell the story on their own.
