Shannon Sharland is a talented makeup artist who specialises in wedding makeup and who also has a passion for leopard prints! First, I explored font ideas. I wanted to move away from the traditional fonts used for makeup artists and anything with script writing. I wanted a font that was fresh, minimalistic and modern. The font i have chosen is modern with a touch of feminine elegance. I then added additional features to the font to add in some meaning that is identifiable by only Shannon. I changed the letter ‘H’ to have a winged eyeliner as the horizontal bar and absolutely love this feature that is carried through the branding into the letter “L” and “A”. There is a diamond star centred in the ‘O” in her name which resembles the 'diamond' engagement ring on the bride about to be married.
After studying her branding questionnaire it was clear to me that Shannon loves the look, elegance and feel of leopard print, and I think that this is a great design element to incorporate into the branding. Using the colours from her new brand pallet I came up with, I then hand drew Shannon her very own leopard print (which will end up being used to create branding stationary and social media elements). I read throughout her branding questionnaire that an idea for a logo illustration was makeup products, and I thought hard on this one, on how I could incorporate makeup product illustrations with a leopard print! And it was an “Ahuh” moment when I came up with the idea of makeup brushes with handles in a leopard print! This works perfectly with her branding and adds that leopard print in a subtle way, just like she really wanted. I then came up with the idea of the “o” in her name acting like a jar to hold the makeup brushes in. But the more I worked on her logo I realised it reminded me of an engagement ring, which I liked the meaning of even more, seeing as her clients are mainly brides.
The colours I have chosen are neutrals with a touch of pink. I love the way they just flow, they are calming, fresh and elegant. I love the way the chocolate brown pops against the lightest colour. These two are my favourite, and are definitely a match made in heaven.

What Shannon had to say -
Wow! I am seriously floored! I can see that so much thought went into creating these designs. I really feel that you nailed what I was looking for while simultaneously surprising me with your creativity.
I love the fonts and definitely appreciate how they are not your typical fonts for makeup artists. The “winged liner” aspect gives it that something special. The colors are beautiful and fit with my aesthetic very well.
The leopard makeup brushes? Genius!
You are very talented at what you do and I definitely plan on purchasing from you in the future.
